JANUARY 2010
Here is the January edition of Coventry Bridge Club newsletter. If you would like to receive the newsletter or other club notifications by email, please let either Pam or Ann know.
The new club has progressed a great deal since the last newsletter, luckily the structural work was completed before the snow came and the building is now watertight so work can start on the inside. If everything continues to plan, we should have relocated by the end of April.
Those members who have been at the club over the last few weeks, will have seen various types of chairs come and go. It’s going to be a hard decision to decide on which type of chair to purchase for the large club room, so a sub group of the committee has been set up to select the chair. If you have any views or preference on the chairs we have had in the club, please contact Peter Bruton who is leading the group.
Warwickshire Pairs
Congratulations to Susan Stockdale and Darren Evetts who came second and to Mike Butler and Frank Deakin who won the consolation match.
After winning the introductory pairs last year, Errol & Chris Thomas just missed out this year by one point.
The annual Christmas Party was held at CNW on the 20th December, a traditional Christmas dinner was followed by a game of Chicago. Some very interesting movements around the room as directed by John Pyner coupled with the lack of bidding boxes made for a very different, but enjoyable evening. Our thanks go to Joyce, John and David for organising the evening.
Welcome to Yvonne Gibbons, who was accepted as a member of the club at the January Committee.
Errol & Chris Thomas have left England to join their family in Australia – we wish them good luck.
Donations of Coffee Mugs
Thanks to all members who have donated enough coffee mugs to tide us over until we move to CNW.
Coventry Pairs League
The last session of this series will be held on the 28th January. John Pyner and George Cutherbertson will take over the organisation of the CPL from Steve Green at the start of the new series, which starts on the 25th February.
The next sessions will be on the 31st January and 28th February. Please remember to put your team names on the list on the board if you wish to play.
